Following the resounding success of Apicomplexa-2025, we are thrilled to announce the second edition, II International Virtual Symposium on Apicomplexan Parasites Research (Apicomplexa-2026) scheduled for January 27-28, 2026 organized by Scirease. This symposium bringing together the global research community to advance the study of apicomplexan parasites.
Apicomplexa comprises a diverse group of unicellular parasites responsible for a wide range of diseases affecting humans, animals, and plants. These organisms are distinguished by a specialized structure known as the apical complex, which plays a critical role in host cell invasion and nutrient acquisition. Notable diseases caused by Apicomplexa include malaria, toxoplasmosis, and cryptosporidiosis. Effective medical interventions, along with robust prevention and control strategies, are essential to mitigate the health impact of these pathogens. Advancing our understanding of their biology is key to developing targeted approaches that can reduce infection rates and enhance the well-being of affected populations.
This two-day virtual event will spotlight cutting-edge research on Plasmodium, Toxoplasma, and Cryptosporidium, with sessions covering, but not limited too:
Molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions
Advances in parasite cell biology and organelle function
Drug resistance and novel therapeutic targets
Immunological responses and vaccine development
Genomic and proteomic innovations in parasite research
Designed to foster interdisciplinary dialogue, Apicomplexa-2026 will feature invited talks, live Q&A sessions, and networking opportunities for both established researchers and early-career scientists. The virtual format ensures broad accessibility and global participation.
